What’s News?

Merry Christmas to all our Choristers, Patrons and Friends!

Well, we’re nearly at the end of 2020 and back in January who would have thought how this year would turn out. We’ve missed meeting weekly with all our ladies but keeping together on zoom has been a life saver, and we can’t wait to get back together in 2021. In the meantime here is our 2020 newsletter, which includes news on our 2020 Bursary award to a promising local student, this year awarded to St John the Baptist High School Student Faye Jones. We wish everyone a peaceful Christmas time and a safe and happy 2021. Look out on our Facebook page for some festive virtual performances before the big day!

2021 News Update.

After another uncertain start to the year we have been delighted to return to ‘in-person’ rehearsals, at first as sections, then finally when restrictions allowed, and we were certain we could keep all our ladies safe, the full choir. It has been wonderful to see and catch up with everyone, and practice of new and old songs has continued at pace! We’ve had change of venue, and we now rehearse at the beautiful refurbished St Elvan’s Church. We are very grateful for everything that Cwmdare Club have done for the choir over the years, with a special mention to Emma Mann for her help and support.. We will certainly be back there soon as we can for a social evening!

A busy spring, but not in the way we had hoped!

No-one could have predicted what 2020 would bring. After a lovely trip to the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, March then saw rehearsals abruptly brought to an end for the time being, and our ladies having to keep in touch through social media and practicing at home. Our fantastic musical team have kept us busy though!

For the VE day celebrations we all remotely recorded Dame Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll meet again’, amazing what you can do with a laptop!

Each week during lockdown our amazing musical team have also been providing us with new warm up’s. This week we are learning #ThankYouBakedPotato and the musical team had a lot of fun putting their own video to it! Hope you enjoy! Thanks to @realmattlucas and the fantastic #feednhs campaign.
